******IMPORTANT UPDATE 11/02******
There's been a number of bugs found with this script. Lynda had been working on a mySQL version but that was several months ago – so I think she's moved on.
I'm sorry, but I've ceased development of this script. Blogrolling.com seems to be developing (or has developed) one very similar (for mysql as well) that seemed to be more advanced than mine. I began to feel like I was re-inventing the wheel, except that my version of it was coming out square 😉

Moving from Blogger and the YACCS commenting system to MT? Now you can Import YACCS comments in to Movable Type! Robyn pointed out this handy info and said, "You create an .xml file of your YACCS comments and another .xml file with your Blogger entries. Then you run a .php script that comes with the .zip file (including directions) and it matches them up. This creates a new import.html file that you run a normal MT import with." Now you can move your comments too!

Want to make your blog squeaky clean? Ok, that was lame – but that's what I think of every time I see "SOAP". This site shows us a great new use of the Google API and SOAP – you can link to "Related Stories" in Google that tie into your posts. Interesting twist and worth giving it a try if you want to link over to Google. [Via Chris Pirillo]

After several requests for tutorials on the MT boards, I've put together some tutorials and codes for Movable Type on a few different topics. These could be modified to fit other blogging software or just normal page designs as well.
The first is a 3 column layout. It is all css, based on the default MT stylesheet and my own version of the bluerobot technique for flanking sidebars.
The second is a Photoblog layout. Its also all css, and has a more indepth tutorial on how to use this format for SUPER-easy posting of your images. The design is also based on the default MT stylesheet, with similar tweaks that my own personal photoblog uses. A photoblog in MT is an ideal place to try out the Next/Previous Category hack from this site!!
I hope these help somebody!

A few questions here. First of all – I've figured out how to "parse" weblogs.com. (I'm not really parsing it, and maybe that's the problem) but it's really, really,… really…. REALLY slow. See my sample here.
Secondly – Blogroller is developing a personal version. Do I just pack it up, call it a day. Had my fun trying to figure this stuff out, and move on? (Do I continue trying to develop this when there's something bigger and better out there already?)

I'm doing alot of PHP scripting at work right now involving cookies, sessions, mySQL and encryption. Thought I'd post the links and a few lines of code that are most useful to me at this moment. (this will probably only make sense to hard-core phpers)

Some of you may have played around with DoSomething, a WinAmp plugin that allows you to generate songlists. While originally intended for Shoutcasters, I fell in love with this plugin over a year ago, and have been using it ever since to generate automatically-updated lists of the songs that have recently played in WinAmp.
Requirements: WinAmp, DoSomething plugin, PHP, and a FTP account.
