WordPress now has a bug tracker!

Just stumbled across this page in a search I was doing:
Has a bunch of interesting scripts for the taking. One that may come in handy someday somehow – "Items List" – enter text in a field – click add to list – and javascript holds the list "in temporary memory"…
(and actually – I didn't see it at first – but this menu swapper was the script I was looking for!)
I do have a limited amount of free time to work on "side projects" like this – but I wanted to get the most bang for the buck. So I wanted to see which feature people wanted more. You should see a poll in the sidebar now – go ahead and cast your vote.
I should note, that
1) I can't guarantee that it will be a quick turnaround. There's still a few items on the to do list for THIS site that I want to get to first (as well – I have three other blogs that I want to switch over to WP)
and
2) I'm not even sure I can even DO everything that I have listed there. LOL! Some of them may simply be out of my range of what I am capable of – but I'll certainly give it a shot!
If there's something that you would like to have on that list – I looked high and low for a polling script that allowed user "write in"s – didn't find one. So we'll have to settle for you either leaving a comment on that original post – or leaving a comment on the poll itself (which will probably be checked less often)
P.S. – because of the whole mod-rewrite thing – I don't think the poll works on anything but the "home" page. There's probably a fix for this, but I'm too lazy to figure it out at the moment. So – if you want to vote – make sure you're on the main/home page.
Since Alex released his js quick tags – it seemed like the perfect thing to add to the comments form so that people could put in the html tags more easily. However, while his script is really powerful – just for the comments form, it's more than what's needed. So I stripped it down to the most basic version – using only the most common HTML tags used in comments – italic, bold, and links.
Here are the instructions on how to integrate it into your (wordpress) comments:

History: I had previously written this decoder, but it wasn't compatible with anything but IE. (A frustrating point since I've been using Firefox pretty religously). I saw that Mark had written one compatible with mozilla – but the only one there convereted EVERYTHING (making it difficult to go back an edit anything you decoded). I also saw Alex had published his quick tags. So I took a little bit of all of them and created the following script. It can't be turned into a bookmarklet – because it requires having the fieldname passed to it – but at least I could add back the "decoder" button for comments here. (Although – Mark updated his post with the bookmarklet that will just encode brackets, etc.)

A few problems I have with the built in blacklist in wordpress is that 1) it's not alphabetized, and 2) it allows duplicates, 3) as well as spaces next to each listing.
I wrote a little script that will clean up the list – which you can load directly in a browser (change extension to .php and upload to your wordpress install directory) – it will clean up and then update your list – however, it would be great to integrate this directly into WordPress. Anyone have any ideas where it would go, exactly?

There were so many hacks/plugins etc, that were created or mentioned on this site specifically for MT. To those of you who have converted, or who are thinking of converting – what plugin/hack/thing-a-ma-jig did you used to have for MT that you wish you could have now.
I think there is very little (if anything at all?!) that I did in MT that couldn't be done as easily (if not EASIER!!) in WordPress. So, while I can't say I'll promise to get to everything right away, I'd like to re-create as many tutorials as possible for WordPress.
Leave a comment and let me know what you'd like to see. (Even better if you give the specific link to the older tutorial)
Looks like this plugin will scan your post for URLs and automatically turn them into a clickable link when displayed on your site (so you don't have to start typing a href = " blah blah)… It will automatically convert email addresses to mailto links as well.

In the interest of making things simpler – I created a special version of the wp comments page that you can just upload and be done with it.
So:
1) you need the show/hide more plugin installed. (if it isn't already)
2) Download this file, save it as "wp-dropdown-comments.php" into your wordpress install directory.
3) add the following line to your index.php where you want your dropdown comments to display:
Note: that line does NOT!! replace your wp-comments.php line.
An additional note I'll make here and on the show/hide more (post) version:
Make sure you have the following in your template! (It's in the original WP index.php template, but if you're creating your own, you may have easily forgotten to include it) :
That line would go in between your <HEAD> </HEAD> tags.
Please post any problems/bugs in the comments. I've tested it on a test blog, but not extensively.
FYI – I recently made a change to the "show/hide more" plugin so it will automatically do the show/hide more on your posts without your needing to change your template – but if you wanted to keep your more links the way they were (because you only wanted to use the plugin for drop-down comments) – comment out this line in the plugin: add_action('the_content', 'the_contentshowhide'); by putting two slashes // in front of it.
I love how easily you can create a category hierarchy in wordpress… Just for kicks – I made a subcategory to "Bookmarks" just for all the color tools I've linked to, then went through and added as many posts as I could find that seemed appropriate.
