Plugin Links Collection

Posted by: Jennifer In: WordPress Bookmarks to Plugins

Haven't visited the plugin page on the wiki in a while and found a few plugins I'd like to play with at some point:

PictPress
(as stated on the wiki) : automatically add thumbnails and pictures for all images in a directory when publishing a post.

SnailGallery
create a static gallery of images inside a post.

Comment Moderation auto-switch on older posts
Automatically turns on comment moderation for older posts (good spam prevention – while not turning comments OFF for those posts.)

TalkBalk
This plugin by Shelley allows you to insert links to display all comments by a person(name or url) on your weblog.

Amazon Wishlist
Give it an Amazon wishlist ID, and it will display a random item from your wishlist

ImageManager Plugin
As stated on the wiki: The Image Manager plugin integrates the stand alone PHP ImageManager + Editor with Word Press. (read about the PHP ImageManager here. I'm assuming that it brings that functionality into WordPress?)

Edit Button Template
A template that allows you to add buttons to the quick tag buttons using DOM. (so you don't have to edit core files!)

Hide or Cut Post Text plugin
Make parts of your post only appear on the "permalink page" permanently hide other content.

A Better Image Rotator from A List Apart

A Better Image Rotator: A List Apart

I always feel kind of silly linking to things on A List Apart. The site has so much good info – that you could easily end up linking to every article.

Search results hacks

Posted by: Jennifer In: Bookmarks

Raena has a nice hack(s) to make the search results from WP a little nicer: adding a line that says "Here's your search results" (simple feedback is always nice) – and changing it so that if one result is displayed, it doesn't automatically dump you into the "single post" view.

Link collections

Just a few links I've been meaning to save (these are not new)

YouSendit
Email large files quickly, securely
[via Jennifer]

Collapsing margins in CSS
Something about margins behaving badly 😉 – when I have time, I need to actually read this.
[via (many places) but more recently at web-graphics]

Taskbar Sorter Utility
Ok, I'll admit it. I can be just a teency bit anal retentive. I like the programs in the taskbar to be in a certain order. Outlook first – and then programs I'm running starting from the least used/important – to the most used/imporant. Aw… leave me alone. I'm apparently not the only one who does this since someone actually wrote a utility to sort your taskbar programs! 😉
[via Kevin]

There's more – but I'm going senile, and can't find them now… grrrr…. :/
(Did someone recently blog about a new clip-art/graphics site they found?? I KNOW I saw it somewhere, but I can't remember where)

Allow only registered users to post comments

This isn't really new – but just stumbled on this post in the wp forums and wanted to save the link in case I ever needed it.

WordPress Hack: only registered users can post comments

Comments Off on Allow only registered users to post comments

Slayeroffice has come up with a number of great bookmarklets. Tonight I just noticed that they have one that combines them all. You click the bookmarklet – and then you pick which one you want to use (so instead of having 10 different favlets (for slayeroffice) you have just one but access to them all from that one. Ok, I'm overexplaining. It's really cool. There. That does it.

slayeroffice – favlet suite

(some fo the favlets included in this is the mouesover DOM inspector, "remove children" (removes elements off a page so you can see how it's constructed), ruler, resize fonts… and more)

Next/Previous posts in same category

Posted by: Jennifer In: WordPress Plugins

UPDATE 12/4/2007 PLEASE NOTE – this plugin is now broken in the most current version of WordPress (which is, as of this writing, ver 2.3.1). However – it is also no longer needed as this functionality is now part of WordPress. Please see this post for more details. I will leave this post up here for the sake of archives, etc. but it is no longer current.

I've seen a few people request the ability to do next/previous posts within the same category. I thought it had already been done and I swear I looked around to see if anyone had, but I didn't find it. If it has been done, well at least I had fun writing this. :)

Current Version: v 0.2
