MT template backups

Posted by: kristine In: MT hacks

Now that MT has an option to use MySQL to store its information, there's greater possiblity in sorting and presenting the data. Take this tutorial that Brenna wrote up for example – outputting templates, using the mysql database. It's a great example of what can be done with PHP and MySQL and MT. I have […]

Multiple Archive Templates

Posted by: kristine In: MT hacks

I've been going through tutorials and help I've given on the MT boards, and found that I never had posted this here. Multiple Archive Templates are part of MT2.0 and above and are useful for having two different ways (idea: normal and for printing) to display your individual archives, or generating a normal page of […]

Moving from Blogger and the YACCS commenting system to MT? Now you can Import YACCS comments in to Movable Type! Robyn pointed out this handy info and said, "You create an .xml file of your YACCS comments and another .xml file with your Blogger entries. Then you run a .php script that comes with the […]

Google API & SOAP

Posted by: Christine In: MT hacks

Want to make your blog squeaky clean? Ok, that was lame – but that's what I think of every time I see "SOAP". This site shows us a great new use of the Google API and SOAP – you can link to "Related Stories" in Google that tie into your posts. Interesting twist and worth […]

Brenna posted some php over on the MTForums to change the sorting order on the MTArchiveList. scroll down to the June 4 – 9:38 am posting on this thread. Seemed like a cool solution to me, and so I thought I'd post about it over here.

Master Author Archives

Posted by: kristine In: MT hacks

Because Movable Type doesn't (currently) have an automatic by-Author Archives, I've implemented some tricks to make it work on the red kitchen. With group blogs, its really an important form of archiving. I just posted some of this stuff today on the MT forums, and thought I'd outline it over here as well. Depending on […]

Most Commented on Entries

Posted by: Lynda In: MT hacks

UPDATE 3.29.04 Lynda has a updated version of this script. I'll leave the content of the post up – but go to her site for the most recent version of the script. ——————————————- I went looking to see if there was a way to list the most commented on entries within Moveable Type. I know […]

Listing Recent Comments in MT

Posted by: Lynda In: MT hacks

There are a number of ways to do this and your options are only limited by your imagination . . . and, well, the MT tags. First, this will only work in MT 2.0+ so go upgrade right now if you haven't!

Posting last 7 Non-Consecutive Days

Posted by: Christine In: MT hacks

One of the questions I have seen frequently on the MT boards is the need to have a blog index include the last 7 days worth of posts – even if they are 20 days apart. Dori even asked me about it on Friday, but I didn't think it could be done without running scripts. […]

Generating an Export File in MT

Posted by: Christine In: MT hacks

Great thread in the MT support forum! It was suggested to make a Index template in MT that generates the file automatically whenever you post. Ben has posted all the code needed to put this in to place – I'll be implementing it this weekend on my blog. All credit goes to the booge.
