In case you ever need to know how to type an — or é
(To do them in HTML though you'd probably want to see something like this)

Nice link, good tip. It should be noted, however, that Windows Character Map (Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Character Map) shows these special ALT characters as well, in the bottom status bar.

I use alt+0169 all the time: "©", or "©" if it needs HTML encoding.
