ExpressionEngine?

Posted by: Jennifer In: Bookmarks

Psst… wanna free copy of ExpressionEngine? The first 1000 people to contact them are getting a free copy – and others a competitive upgrade. (I'm working on getting mine right now – I may still yet install and use some other smaller ones that I can tinker with – but ExpressionEngine is too feature-powerful not to turn down – especially with this deal!!)

Wow, thanks so much for posting this! I've been enviously eyeing EE for a while, and vacillating between EE and WP… but I think this will prod me into making a decision!

I'm aware (as all others should be, too) that maintaining and updating an EE blog or blogs over time is gonna require cash. The guy that makes EE (Rick with pMachine) isn't doing this promotion out of the goodness of his heart ;). But at least he's always been forthright and honest about fees for his products and services, and that's the most important thing for me.

P.S. — If SA had a bit of sense (in the past, or in the next day or two), they'd offer a free significant license to the following groups of people (who don't include me, btw):
– all people who've written plugins
– those who've contributed significantly in the MT forums or otherwise
– longtime bloggers (those who've maintained a non-commercial MT blog for 2 or more years)

But hey, that's just my own marketing thoughts.

Sorry but I don't think the last one is realistic. There are alot of old school MT users out there, far too many to give them all a license. I certainly agree with people who help support MT and expand it. Actually, I also think beta testers should get something too, not a free license but maybe a discount or a recently updated key just like what was given for TypeKey. I'm not saying that because I was beta tester, I wasn't as active as some but there were some like Jay Allen who was awesome and helped everyone.

I see your point about my last suggestion… and I can't believe I forgot to include the beta testers in my note!

I got my free copy last night. Getting ready to install it. I currently have 4 blogs and had donated for each one. I also donated for every upgrade. Just feel its time to weigh my options here.

I managed to snag a free license last night. Already have a test blog up and imported one of my MT blogs over. The import wasn't without issue and I may need to work on it to get things perfect, but I must say that I am impressed with it just the same.

Thought Stephanie (et al.) might want to know that even though we have been swamped passing out the licenses, there are still a few left.

I snagged my copy of ExpressionEngine yesterday after seeing a comment on a friends site. He's gone from Greymatter (personal friend of his) to MT to pMachine Pro and now ExpressionEngine.

I've got my site (for the most part) up and running on EE now with my entire DB switched over to EE. I'm going to be going through post by post and making sure everything displays as intended and that all of the original posts imported properly. I seem to have some problems where I had previously quoted sites/comments not importing that text.

Everything is great and a go now. I'm going to begin customizing my templates in the coming week and we'll see how things go from here.

Expression Engine
In a brilliant marketing decision amidst all the MT brouhaha, pMachine started giving away copies of it's $149 Expression Engine, supposedly to the first 1000 people to send them an email. I read about it on Scriptygoddess a couple days…
