My first basic tip to share – css = cascading style sheets. They control the appearance of your pages, much like bold and center tags, but even with more coolness!
And my first real tip – my very favorite tool to recommend to you is Top Style. Its a style sheet editor that lets you preview your style sheets. You can download a trial copy of it! Check it out, its way neato!

I love Top Style. I have the full version of it. It and Vi are my main site creation tools now.

I use TopStyle as well. It's a great little tool, and using that, with Homesite makes everything so much easier.

TopStyle Pro v3.0 is now also a full X/HTML editor and has become my primary web page editor; I've kicked HomeSite to the curb without guilt because Nick Bradbury wrote both of them.

Yep. I use the Pro version for all my web editing. It is great and has built in capabilities for validating css and html.
